lower mill estate mini break

Updated: Nov 8, 2018

In Collaboration with Habitat Escapes. A few weeks back we were very lucky to be offered a stay at the beautiful Lower Mill Estate by Habitat Escapes in exchange for a review.

I’m a huge believer in getting to know places locally to you, we always seem to be travelling further and further away for our holidays, so what a treat to find a little gem like this in the Cotswolds which is just one hour from home.

Lower Mill Estate is built around a huge nature reserve with masses of wildlife and miles of bike paths to explore; there is even a colony of beavers living on the reserve.

The accommodation is all self-catering, there are all sorts of options for all sized parties. We had a lovely ground floor apartment with three bedrooms it was super spacious and modern with a fab outside area, a huge deck and BBQ.

This was great with the glorious weather we’ve been having as it meant we ate dinner outside each evening.... except one evening when we ate at the fab restaurant Balihoo! I cannot express enough how amazing the food is at this restaurant and such a cool place to hang out, usually on a resort or a complex you expect the food to be a little underwhelming, well this is far from it, not only do they serve fabulous meals for both adults and children they specialise in our favourite food tapas!! Plus, the restaurant is right next to the park, so the children can happily play while you relax with a drink.

After the chaos of the end of term and all the work happening at the house we knew we wanted this mini break to be a time to chill and recoup. However, if it’s an action-packed escape you’re after there is also lots to do. We hired bikes from the activity hub for the weekend which was a great way to get around and see the beautiful nature reserve, they have options for all ages and abilities, so we were sorted for all the children; Dottie and Tiggy loved the bike trailer. They also hire canoes, kayaks and paddle boards as well as all the equipment you will need. Equally if you wanted to explore the Cotswolds you are just a stone’s throw from many of its beautiful villages.

For us the best part had to be the beautiful award-winning family spa. Such a beautiful setting to enjoy two heated swimming pools plus a sauna and steam room. We spent a lot of our time at the outdoor pool thanks to the glorious weather it felt like we could have been in the South of France when we were just down the road.

From the moment we arrived we instantly felt relaxed and left feeling truly rejuvenated!
