girls bedroom

I’ve loved doing this room, naturally my taste is quite girly, and I’m generally drawn to pastel colours and find girls décor much easier than boys.

The walls in our last home (a cottage) were too uneven for wallpaper so when we moved in I couldn’t wait to get some up. I chose the wallpaper first which is from Wallpaper Direct and called Kelda. I then planned the rest of the room around it, it comes in a few different colour ways I went for the mint green (Marine).

We have recently had the bedrooms upstairs re-carpeted by Carpetright in a pale grey called Artic Ice from the Minnesota Range which tones with the mint green perfectly. The paler colour of the carpet instantly lifted all the rooms and made them feel much lighter and modern, especially Felix’s which has been decorated in a deep inky blue. With it being such a light colour, it was essential for us that the carpet was stain resistant and the best part is its bleachable.

Wanting to keep the fresh look of the wallpaper I went for a very subtle shade on the other three walls called My Pleasure obviously from my favourite go to paint brand Valspar, usually I go for a colour match and get my paint mixed but this is one of their own colours that I discovered within the massive range.

I also used Valspar for the wood paint which I used on the cupboard door and on the book shelves for the little reading nook. This was a colour match to a house shaped book shelf we have (above Dottie’s bed) with wood paint I always go for eggshell as I don’t like a shiny finish.

Keeping the décor subtle and light makes the pops of colour like the yellow door and the colourful beds work well without being too much. I’m asked daily about the girls beds they are from Asda but annoyingly out of stock not surprising as such a bargain at £75.

It’s hard to make clear in a picture but this room is vast, it takes two single beds easily with buckets of room to spare not wanting the room to seem bland I went for a statement rug by Lorena Canals this really is the rug of dreams not only is it beautiful its washable. I love it and have just ordered myself one for our bedroom which is up next.

Below I have listed where everything is from, if something isn’t there it’s because it was a one off or no longer available.
